COVERING POTUS
The latter half of 2005 will be remembered as troubled times at the White House. The death toll of American soldiers in Iraq was dramatically increasing, and a politically bruising anti-war campaign, fueled by Cindy Sheehan, created discontent in the Nation's capital.
Add to this mood; Hurricane Katrina and its political repercussions, two Supreme Court Justices' confirmation hearings (with one of the Presidents nominees dropping out of the race), as well as a highly publicized courtroom drama questioning the ethics of some of his most trusted advisors.
President G.W. Bush saw his popularity figures slide to unprecedented low levels.
I covered the White House and Capitol Hill for US News and World Report in 2005 and the following images were taken during these months.
